Students,

We would like to call to your attention the tests that you will encounter while training here. We not only have quests and badge mastery, but every couple of weeks we will offer a boss battle. That boss battle might be a group trek surveying the grounds, or a physical competition to parse out a winner from the group. It could be a show of endurance, teamwork, or wits- and perhaps a combination of those elements and more.
The important thing to recognize is that boss battles are truly voluntary- you may or may not accept them, much like the other quests and badge mastery. But there are advantages to entering a boss battle, with extras that you cannot receive elsewhere, and a boost in xp.
